Strength and Conditioning / Mobility / Injury Prevention:
For athletic development we take the approach of dropping the ego and learning to move properly and develop strength through the correct intensity and practice that allows us to translate the gym directly to sport. Every exercise has its place but each one is a tool in a very complex tool box.
Some Factors that go into programming for athletes and clients are:
- Current ability and exercise technique
- Strength vs power
- Frequency, volume, and intensity necessary dependent on Sport schedule (off season, in season, or year round)
- Programming sagittal plane, frontal plane, transverse planes of motion
- Active range of motion and its impact on injury reduction and increased performance
- Developing a workload capacity
- Active rest vs inactive rest
- Exercise order dependent on daily schedule
- Exercise selection dependent on sport practice and/or active events
- Exercise selection working around injury or possible microtrauma
- Good pain vs bad pain
- Mobility vs flexibility and how they are important specific to the sport
- Internal strength training ability and Central nervous system’s ability to adapt
